Companhia Brasileira de Vidros Planos – The Brazilian Float Glass Plant – CBVP will be the first float glass plant in Northeastern Brazil, a region with growth rates above the national average.

A R$ 550 million investment will be made in the undertaking, a finance and technology intensive industry that will be built in the county of Goiana (PE).

The plant, with start-up scheduled for the second half of 2013, will cover an area of 80 thousand square meters and an annual installed capacity of 260 thousand tons, the equivalent of 30 million square meters of float glass per year. CBVP’s estimated revenues total R$ 400 million per year, and its operation will generate about 370 new direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect ones.

The company's main client will be the civil construction industry. Its production will be preferentially designed to the North and Northeast regions and to partially supply the demand of some Midwest and Southeast states. 2-15 mm thick colorless and colored float glass pieces, among other nuances, will be produced.
