Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd (NEG) signed an agreement with Xiamen Torch High-tech Zone on January 25th to launch its new LCD substrate glass project in Xiamen’s Xiang’an Torch High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
Founded in 1949, NEG has become one of the largest manufacturers of LCD substrate glass in the world.NEG has established plants overseas to meet global needs and has a global market share of more than 20%.
The 8.5-generation TFT-LCD substrate glass project to be launched in Xiamen is a core part of the industrial chain of electro-optic displays, with an equipment investment of about RMB 4.14 billion.
According to reports, Phase I of the project will start construction in September 2014, and is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2015.
