Two Belgian buildings glazed with AGC high added value glass have won prestigious MIPIM Awards at the 21st annual exhibition held in Cannes (France) by MIPIM, the world’s property market.

A sustainable business centre“Odyssey W23,” the new world headquarters for the vaccine division of pharmaceutical company GSK Biologicals, won an award in the “Business Centres” category. The building, designed by the Assar association of architects, offers 51,000 m² of office space. All the materials used in its construction were selected with a view to sustainable development.

Thus Stopray Silver, a silver-coloured glass from AGC, was chosen for its high solar control and thermal insulation performance. The 20,000 m² of double-skin façade assures perfect temperature regulation inside the offices and laboratories, while maximising the hygiene performance.

Glass cube wins Special Jury Award

The special Jury Award went to the Square Brussels Meeting Centre designed by architects A.2R.C. “The Square” with its 55,000 m² of space in the centre of Brussels has become the Belgian capital’s leading venue for international conferences and congresses. Both its name and its visual representation refer to the 13 metre long glass cube which serves as the only entrance, on the model of the Louvre with its pyramid and the Apple Cube on 5th Avenue, New York.

The cube is made of double glazing in AGC's extra clear Clearvision glass with a TopN+ super-insulating coating. Inside, each auditorium has its own unique colour: the glass wall in Lacobel Rich Aluminium varnished glass leads to the Silver Hall, while a partition in Lacobel Rich Copper leads to the Copper Hall.
