Jim Sweeney has been named president and chief operating officer of Milgard Windows effective Sept. 1, 2003. Sweeney, who succeeds Gary Milgard, president of Milgard since 1962, will relocate from his home in southern California to Tacoma, Wash., where the company is based.

Gary Milgard remains the company’s chairman and CEO. Milgard Windows is a producer of windows and patio doors.

Sweeney joined Milgard Windows in 1989 as the general manager of the company’s Hollister, Calif., manufacturing facility. In 1991 he became general manager of its Temecula, Calif., facility and in 1995 became the company’s southern regional manager.
To execute growth strategies, Sweeney will work with Gary Milgard and Chuck Dowd, group president, Masco Corp., which purchased Milgard in August 2001.

"Jim has years of success in growing Milgard markets and developing strong customer relationships," said Dowd. "And, in the Milgard tradition, he believes absolutely in providing a work environment where every employee has a full opportunity to grow and succeed."
