MERRILL — City of Merrill leaders approved an agreement today that will provide a $200,000 incentive to a window manufacturer in exchange for the creation of up to 150 new jobs here.

In a special Common Council meeting today, council members voted 7-0 to approve a development agreement between the city of Merrill and Hurd Windows and Doors. Hurd’s subsidiary, Superseal Windows and Doors, plans to begin operating at Hurd’s existing facility on Water Street this fall.

City Council member Jeremy Thompson was not present at today's meeting.

Council members also approved a measure today to create a new tax increment district on the city’s west side, including the project plan for the 26-year TID. Officials expect the new district to generate enough property tax revenue to offset the $200,000 that will be given to Hurd.
