An Indian man has taken to gobbling up glass for a livingP Arthanari Swamy claims he has been eating glass pieces and empty liquor bottles for the last 18 years after realising that he could "digest them".
The resident of Komarapalyam, Tamil Nadu, says he first consumed crushed and powdered glass with a drink to try and end his life while in a state of depression.He told the Newindpress website: "I pulverised a bottle and consumed the powder so that I could die in my sleep."But, to my surprise, I woke up in the morning and found that I was alive. When I told my friends, they did not believe me and I repeated the act for them."
The 45-year-old bachelor, who now consumes glass pieces and pesticides at shows to make a living, said: "Except soda bottles, which are thick, I can eat anything''
Mr Swamy is now considering an approach to the Guinness Book of Records.
