Listers Train to Gain

Lister Trade Frames have taken an advanced step in their focus on training. At the end of 2009 another eleven members of Listers staff passed NVQ’s, and one of the qualifications gained was rather special: Alan Howley, who is a Production Manager at Listers, has qualified as an NVQ Assessor A1 in glass support and fabrication.  Having a qualified assessor on the production floor at all times has given a completely new dimension to delivering the training and assessments for staff trying to achieve NVQ level two.

And Listers aren’t satisfied with that, so they have now tasked Alan to gain a license to deliver NVQ assessments in Fenestration Installation level two.

Back in 2006 Listers were winners of the National G-Award for Training and Development. Despite the downturn in the market, Listers has continued to build on its training programs and these latest steps provide extra scope for building, monitoring and delivering quality standards across the business.

Listers culture is one of constant improvement in both products and service. Their strategy on training is just one of the ways helping them to gain new business. Mike Terris, one of Listers production staff said: “By passing the NVQ I now have a better understanding of and confidence in each machine I use, this has made my job more interesting and my knowledge and skills have grown thanks to the NVQ award.”

Listers have just signed another five members of the production team onto the NVQ training scheme who will be developing their role, learning new skills and understanding the importance of delivering high quality.

Despite a difficult market Listers continue to invest in their people, believing that it is important to train to gain.
