Shreveport’s Libbey Glass Inc. will have a grand opening at 9 a.m. Wednesday for its 646,000-square-foot warehouse-distribution center at 5001 Greenwood Road.
The center, developed by First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc. will support the 1,100-employee Shreveport plant, and the 75-acre site can still accommodate significant expansion in the future as Libbey needs it, plant officials said.The $35 million building — $25 million for the center, $5 million in new equipment, $5 million for labor and engineering — is a public/private effort.The Caddo Parish Industrial Board in 2005 sold revenue bonds to build the center. The board will own the building and lease it to a real estate investment trust, which in turn will lease it to Libbey.
Libbey will use the center to handle, process and store materials for its glass manufacturing plant in Shreveport.
