According to a file reported by the CSTB (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment, Building Scientific and Technical Center) , laminated glass produced with DuPont™ SentryGlas® interlayer may be used in France without the need for timely and costly "special approval" by the building authorities, thereby extending its potential scope for application.

The CSTB approval includes its use as safety glazing in facades, overhead installations and balustrades. This is a major step forward for the European, Middle East and African regions.

French building contractors already choose to use SentryGlas® for certain projects - largely due to the significant benefits it brings with it in terms of weight, performance and, ultimately, cost - and, to date, have accepted the additional cost and time of gaining 'special approval' for their development. From now on, and for more day-to-day projects, laminated glass systems with SentryGlas® can be used without the need for additional administrative hurdles.

The facade on Morocco Telecom's new headquarters in Rabat comprises a double skin covering a total surface area of 11,500m2.

The approval was granted on the basis of a large variety of tests specified by the CSTB and conducted on samples of SentryGlas® laminates before and after ageing, in order to make sure the product performance complies with the requirements for architectural glass in France. The product also complies with NF EN 14449 standard for laminated glass.
