A Kernersville aluminum door manufacturer plans to build a sustainable manufacturing facility by the end of 2008, adding space and employees in the process.

Exact Finish Inc., which produces products such as aluminum-framed glass doors for offices, now sits in a leased 15,000-square-foot plant on Shields Road and employs 22 workers. The new building will be about 35,000 square feet, and will require 10 new employees by the end of next year, said EFI president Kevin Moore.

He said he hasn't determined how much the new building will cost, but based on construction estimates, the new facility could cost between $2.2 million and $3 million.

Moore said a site hasn't been selected, but it is likely the new plant will be in High Point or Greensboro. He said the 8-year-old company likely will order a pre-fabricated building that will include more natural lighting, better air circulation and proper building orientation, which maximizes daylighting.
