The seminar on glass processing technology conducted by Sejal Group here yesterday in the city provided a comprehensive insights on glass and its wider applications such as energy saving, acoustic glazing, human safety, security and fire resistance. Briefing the representatives of the building industry like architects, project managers, builders on the lesser known nuances in glass technology R Subramanian, Vice President Operations of Sejal opined that the technological innovations in glass industry has opened new vistas for the industry as such in India, as more IT, ITES, air conditioned commercial sectors are on rise.
'Almost 70 million square feet of land in India is earmarked for shopping malls and nowadays taking in to consideration the aspects like climate, safety and aesthetics the builders are opting for more glass in their constructions as it is more reliable than any other materials when it comes to protection against natural and man made disasters.' he said.
Presenting a detailed technical know hows he said that the different topos require different glass for energy saving, thermal performance, acoustics and radiation.' Compared to other available glasses in the market, the 'kool glass' brand developed by Sejal offers 37 percent reduction in radiation, 22 percent reduction in conduction and up to 50 decibel sound reduction'.
He also added that a committee instituted by central government after a detailed study on glass and its applications has come out with suggestions to promote more glass as it is more safe than normal brick walls at times of natural calamities like earth quake and hurricanes.
