InvisaGuard LLC is a privately held Michigan corporation that was established in 2003 in Detroit to market a broad range of security products to protect the property of businesses and individuals.The latest offering is InvisaGuard HSG, a high-security laminated-glass product initially marketed toward owners of upscale and luxury SUVs and trucks in the metro-Detroit area. The InvisaGuard HSG(TM) system consists of four specially-produced side windows featuring DuPont(TM) SentryGlas(R) Plus, an intrusion-resistant interlayer that provides five times the tear strength and 100 times the rigidity of conventional automotive laminated glass with PVB. The security interlayer helps to resist attack with a break-in weapon, such as a baseball bat, to help delay a potential thief from gaining access to the vehicle's interior.

The most significant benefit to the auto industry is security. With more than one million vehicles stolen in the United States last year -- and more than half of the break-ins occurring through side glass -- consumers are very aware of the need to make auto glass more intrusion-resistant.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, thieves target the Cadillac Escalade and other SUVs at a higher rate than any other vehicles in North America. Owners of these SUVs often order or add high-value stereo components, DVD entertainment systems and custom wheels and tires that can raise the price of the standard $50,000-plus vehicles by another $10,000 to $30,000. These "smash and grab" and vehicle thefts not only raise insurance premiums, but also can inconvenience owners by putting a vehicle out of commission until it is fixed or replaced -- a process that can sometimes take weeks.
PPG Industries manufactures InvisaGuard HSG. PPG Auto Glass is responsible for warehousing and distribution of the glass at the consumer level. Henderson Glass, an approved installer, will handle installations for Michigan consumers.
