Vitro Architectural Glass announced that its Intercept® stainless steel spacer system is a key component in a Crystal Window & Door Systems product that won a 2016 Readers’ Choice Award from USGlass magazine.

Ideal for new construction and replacement applications, the Crystal Window & Door Systems’ Series 8500/8600 aluminum projected window line is available in a variety of styles, featuring one-inch insulating glass units (IGUs) with the Intercept spacer system as the standard insulating spacer.

The Intercept spacer system by Vitro Glass is constructed with tin-plated steel or stainless steel that is stronger and more durable than a typical foam spacer. It also provides enhanced thermal performance.

The U-shape design of the spacer system supports seal longevity and gas retention by allowing the glass and sealant to move with the normal temperature-related expansion and contraction of the IGU throughout the day.

Since being introduced by Vitro Glass (formerly PPG glass) in 1992, the Intercept spacer system has become the window industry’s most popular and trusted insulating spacer technology, fabricated into more than 600 million windows in Europe and North America.

Readers of USGlass were asked to vote for favorite products highlighted in the magazine’s showcase sections, new product guides, news stories, trade show previews and paid advertisements throughout 2016. The Crystal Window & Door Systems’ Series 8500/8600 aluminum window line won in the category of window products.
