Ing. Franco Grisan has been appointed on 31st October 2007 President of the Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro by the Institute’s Board of Directors.  Franco Grisan, from Venice, received his post-graduate degree in engineering from the University of Padua.

He is President and CEO of Zignago Vetro Spa of Portogruaro-Italy, a Glass Packaging Manufacturer particularly specialized in the production of food bottles and cosmetic jars for high quality perfumes, recently listed on the stock exchange by Borsa Italiana Spa.

The Board of Directors of SSV, expressing his unanimous vote, agreed that Franco Grisan was the right person to boost the Institute development following the guide lines already defined by Giuseppe Breviari, the late SSV's President deceased on last June.

Franco Grisan developed his career mostly at Zignago Company. He has been in charge of development and marketing sectors working in managerial position before assuming the present one.

Franco Grisan is member of Assovetro Council (the Italian Glass Industry Association) and President of its Glass Packaging Division. He is board member of the European Container Glass Federation too.

Ing. Grisan declared: “I am highly honored to be appointed President of Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro, very prestigious Institute. I will put my experience and my international vision at the Institute’s disposal in order to develop more and more its great expertise in glass applied research.

The National and European Industry, as well as the handicraft enterprises need rising support to improve their products quality, to better understand the production processes and to minimize the environmental impact.

In this context SSV will play a more and more important role with growing opportunities in the International Glass Business.
