Wilks Enterprise: Measurement of Dissolved Water (Hydroxyl) In Glass

South Norwalk, CT – August 22, 2002 – A portable, fixed filter infrared filtometer for direct measurement of dissolved water (hydroxyl) in glass has just been introduced by Wilks Enterprise, Inc. With this new InfraCal Filtometer, glass sheets from various sources can be easily measured for dissolved water content to ensure the fabrication process is consistent.

This new version of the InfraCal Filtometer has extended sample arms that provide a quick and very sensitive method of determining the water content in glass sheets. The InfraCal Filtometer can measure the water content from a few parts per million (ppm) to 0.2%. The sample arms are placed over and under a sheet of glass, the “run” button pressed, and the water content to 0.00X% in the glass is displayed on the analyzer’s digital display in less than one minute.

The InfraCal Filtometer weighs less than 5 lbs, is a 6.5 x 6.5 x 5” cube in size, and requires just 12 volts of d.c. power for operation. It is ideal for use directly in the manufacturing area or in the QC laboratory. User-friendly operation makes it easy for production personnel to operate with minimal training.
