Guardian Automotive completes purchase of Siegel-Robert Automotive

Guardian Automotive, Inc., a subsidiary of Guardian Industries Corp., announced on  May 1, 2008  that is has completed its share purchase agreement with Siegel-Robert, Inc., and acquired the automotive parts business known as Siegel-Robert Automotive. Headquartered in Fenton, MO, a suburb of St. Louis, Siegel-Robert Automotive will continue operations under its current name and management team. Terms of the purchase agreement were not disclosed.

Siegel-Robert, Inc. is a privately held company – and the largest manufacturer of chrome plated plastic parts for the automotive industry in North America. “Siegel-Robert Automotive has a track record of success and a proud heritage of serving the automotive industry,” said Jim Davis, president of Guardian Automotive, “Like us, it is a private company so we speak the same language. The brand is well established in its North American segment and complementary to our business portfolio. We look forward to a continuity in Siegel-Robert Automotive management, quality and customer service and ongoing growth in the global business environment.”

Siegel-Robert Automotive was founded in 1946 and today supplies grilles, door handles, nameplates, and other trim products to major automotive manufacturers.

Guardian Industries was founded in 1932 as a supplier of glass products to the automotive industry but has grown substantially through the years in other business segments including float glass and building products. Its

Automotive Group in Warren, Mich., has two business units, glass and trim; the latter is expected to complement Siegel-Robert Automotive. Guardian operates automotive trim manufacturing plants in Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia (2), Michigan and Spain (2). Siegel-Robert Automotive’s plants are located in Missouri (2), Kentucky, Tennessee (3) and China. “The automotive industry is global,” Davis said, “and the successful participants are present around the world. Together, we’re unmatched in global presence, which is a compelling and strategic reason for this agreement. We are a very good fit.”
