PPG Names Pegg Vice President, Packaging Coatings

PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) announced the appointment of Douglas S. Pegg to the position of vice president, packaging coatings, effective May 1. He will be based at PPG's global headquarters here.

Pegg replaces Marc Talman, who is leaving PPG.

In 1985, Pegg joined PPG as an engineer at the company’s Clarkson, Ont., Canada, coatings facility. He later managed technical service and satellite operations supporting the Brampton and Bramalea, Ont., Chrysler auto assembly plants. In 1990, Pegg joined PPG's chlor-alkali and derivatives business, advancing through positions such as sales/marketing manager for Indonesia and account manager for both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He was named president of Taiwan Chlorine in 1994 and general manager of PPG's calcium-hypochlorite operations in 1998.

Pegg moved to South America as managing director, coatings, in 2002, and a year later was promoted to general manager, automotive coatings, Europe. Since July 2006, he has been general manager, chlor-alkali and derivatives sales and operations.

Pegg holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Queens University in Kingston, Ont.
