C.R. Laurence acquires Sommer & Maca
|
C.R. Laurence Inc., Los Angeles, announced on March 25 that it acquired Sommer & Maca Industries, Cicero, Ill., effective March 20, according to a company release.
“This joining brings together the products and services of both organizations, and will enhance our customers’ experiences with larger inventories available from all our North American locations,” said Donald Friese, CRL chairman and CEO, in the release. “This is a new chapter in the history of both CRL and the glazing industry.”
Somaca will maintain its name for the new glass machinery division with former Somaca President Dick Carroll serving as president of the business group.
“Somaca has a fine reputation as a glass machinery manufacturer,” Friese said in the release. “We plan to produce even more high quality machinery in Cicero and will be expanding the facility and adding additional state-of-the-art machinery and engineering expertise.”
CRL will continue to carry Somaca’s products for the stone industry, according to the release.
“With over 40,000 products now available from CRL, and the expanded product lines this acquisition brings, we feel that all our customers and the industry as a whole will benefit greatly,” Friese said.
