Intermac to participate in coverings 2008, Live demonstrations of new Master 30 work center planned

Charlotte, NC, March 19, 2008 – Intermac, the leading manufacturer of glass and stone fabrication machinery, has announced plans to participate in Coverings 2008, a major international trade show for tile and stone related machinery and products. The show, which drew 37,000 attendees and 1,300 exhibitors last year, will take place April 29 - May 2 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Occupying Booth 2391 at Coverings 2008, Intermac will demonstrate its new Master 30 work center. Designed for companies, particularly smaller businesses, that want to meet demands for higher output by automating their production processes, the Master 30 provides all the durability, precision and speed one would expect from Intermac. As Bob O’Hara, Vice President of Sales for Intermac, points out, “At a price point of $20,000 - $40,000 below most other machines on the market, our new Master 30 offers the best ‘bang for the buck’ for any shop looking to automate.”

Intermac will also conduct a One2One seminar on its Master Twin, a machine that represents Intermac’s commitment to technology and productivity with some truly innovative features. A four-axis work center, the Master Twin offers the highest production performance of any machine on the market. Among its most unique features are its twin operating heads or electro-spindles. Each head can process either simultaneously or independently, delivering extraordinary flexibility and productivity. In fact, depending on the design of the countertop being processed, typical productivity gains range from 30% - 40% over a standard single-head machine. Productivity is further enhanced by the built-in fourth axis, which allows for curved or straight saw cutting.

Both the Master 30 and the Master Twin feature ICAM 2D programming systems, which Intermac will demonstrate at the show.

Intermac will also conduct a One2One seminar on its innovative “Optical Tool Presetter.” This patented technology replaces the older-style laser tool measuring devices that only measure radius and height. Using precision optics, the Optical Tool Presetter not only determines the radius and height of the grinding and polishing wheels, but also the relative position from one wheel to the next, ensuring that the proper workload is applied to each wheel. The data generated by the Optical Tool Presetter automatically loads into the PC, reducing initial wheel setup time down to about 10 minutes per set.

All machines in Intermac’s Master series, including the Master 30 and the Master Twin, are equipped with numeric controls integrated into a PC with a user-friendly Windows interface – an innovation that has set a new standard in work center design, providing maximum ease-of-use. In addition to greatly simplifying machine management, this setup offers reduced maintenance costs and less downtime, since Intermac technicians can connect to the customer’s machine via modem and directly access their NC data for real-time machine interventions.
