Guardian Industries announces scholarship winners

Guardian Industries Corp. is pleased to announce that 77 students from around the United States have been awarded Guardian Educational Scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic year by the Guardian Industries Educational Foundation.

Established by Guardian President and CEO William Davidson in 1986, the Guardian scholarship program assists with post-secondary education costs for children of Guardian's U.S. employees. Each scholarship awards up to $4,000 annually and is renewable for up to three years, for a total of $16,000 per student. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to hundreds of high-achieving students, helping families of Guardian employees meet skyrocketing tuition costs for their children's education.

Guardian grants scholarships based on high school or college academic records, extracurricular activities, leadership qualities and the SAT or ACT scores of the applicant. The College Scholarship Service, an independent educational service organization retained by the Guardian Industries Educational Foundation, selects the students with the strongest records of scholastic and extracurricular achievements.

Guardian Industries Corp., based in Auburn Hills, Mich., is a leading worldwide manufacturer of float glass and fabricated glass products for the commercial and residential construction industries, and is the world's largest producer of mirrors. Guardian's Automotive Products Group provides complete exterior systems to the global automotive industry and was named one of the Top 100 Global Automotive Suppliers. Guardian's Building Products Group includes one of the largest manufacturers of fiberglass in the world and occupies a significant and growing position in the building materials distribution business. Guardian, its subsidiaries and affiliates employ 19,000 people and operate facilities throughout North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
