Asahi Loses U.S. Supreme Court Bid to Revive $25 Million Award
|
The U.S. Supreme Court refused to revive a $25.1 million award won by Japanese glassmaker Asahi Glass Co. in a patent suit against rival Cardinal IG Co.
The high court, without comment, rejected Asahi's appeal as part of a list of orders released today in Washington. The justices let stand a federal appeals court ruling that overturned the award.
A jury awarded the damages in 2005 after a judge concluded that Cardinal infringed an Asahi patent. The patent covered window coatings that reflect heat and reduce the cost of heating in winter and air conditioning in summer.
