Museum Of Glass Has Its Own Curator Again

The Museum of Glass hires a permanent curator after five years using contractors. The Museum of Glass has announced the appointment of its first staff curator since 2003. Melissa Post began her duties Monday in the role, which is the only full-time, permanent curatorial position at the museum.
Post, 42, comes to the museum from a position as assistant director of the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design in Hendersonville, N.C., which she had held for a year.

Her previous work includes five years as curator at the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, N.C., and assistant curatorial positions at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, N.Y.

“Glass had been my focus in graduate school and at Corning,” Post said. “It’s always been there (in my career.)”

Post holds a Masters of Arts degree in the History of Decorative Arts, Design and Culture from the Bard Graduate Center in New York City. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both international studies and French. She has received several scholarships, and publishes, lectures, and juries exhibitions nationally and internationally.
