Viracon Opens New Facility In Utah

Glass maker Viracon said Tuesday that it opened a new $35 million fabrication facility in Utah.  The 236,000-square-foot location is a comprehensive, full-fabrication facility in St. George, Utah, near Las Vegas.

Viracon, which is owned by Bloomington-based Apogee Enterprises said that the St. George facility is already working on its first major project, a 76-acre mixed-use mega-development called CityCenter on the Las Vegas strip.

The new Viracon plant was designed to maximize energy efficiency, as it uses only electric power fueled by efficient heat-pump systems. The company further detailed that the new facility will increase Viracon's glass fabrication capacity by approximately 20 percent.

Viracon currently employs 150 people, and that number is expected to grow to 275 as the plant becomes fully operational over the next two-and-a-half year.
