Soothe Your Window Pain: Enter Hottest Room in House Contest

As summer looms on the horizon, Americans and Canadians alike are sweating the thought of skyrocketing cooling bills. The heat gained through windows alone can represent up to 40 percent of summer cooling costs and can also make your favorite room feel as comfortable as the surface of the sun. This summer, VISTA solar control window film wants to soothe your window pain.

VISTA will scour North America for the four hottest rooms, through the "Hottest Room in the House" contest. Kicked off on Earth Day, April 22, consumers will be invited to show off their homes' hot spots, via creatively captioned digital photos that explain in 75 words or less "why they need to be saved from the hottest room in their house."

The four "hottest" submissions, to be announced on June 21, will win free professionally installed VISTA solar control window film, up to a $1,000 US / $1,150 CDN value. Adding VISTA solar control window film can reduce heat gain by up to 80 percent. In addition, the contestant with the best entry will also win a trip for two to one of the hottest cities on Earth: Las Vegas.

"As people increasingly seek new ways and simple steps to be more energy-efficient, they should be aware of the numerous advantages VISTA solar control window film can provide," says Eric Kenney, director of marketing, CPFilms, manufacturer of VISTA window film. "It not only reduces heat, but can significantly reduce energy and cooling bills by as much as 25 percent. We hope this contest will help bring awareness to these benefits and increase energy-efficiency throughout North America."

Additionally, VISTA solar control window film helps protect family members and furnishings by absorbing 99.9 percent of UVA and UVB rays. American homeowners installing certain solar control window films in 2007 may qualify for an extra bonus next April with up to a $500 energy-efficiency tax credit.

"Window film provides multiple benefits, from tax credits (U.S. only) and UV protection to energy savings," says Kenney. "But we hope this contest allows both consumers and our North American network of professionally trained installers to also have a little fun."

To enter to win free professional installation of VISTA solar control window film and the grand prize trip to Las Vegas, visit http://www.hottestroom.com and submit a captioned photo of the hottest spot in your home before May 29. Entries will be judged based on creativity, imagination, and expression of passion. No purchase is necessary to enter.

For more information about entry details and rules, or to learn how far along the road to energy-efficiency you are by taking the "How Hot are You?" quiz, visit http://www.hottestroom.com.
