Shattered glass rains on downtown street
|
A construction mishap on the top floor of a downtown high-rise building Tuesday sent broken window glass raining down several hundred feet, but apparently no one was injured.
A worker carrying a wooden board accidentally smashed the glass pane on the 24th story of the Golden Eagle Plaza building in the 500 block of B Street shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Shards fell onto the roadway below and landed on a car but caused no known injuries, SDPD information officer Bill Robinson said.
Officers cordoned off a block of B Street and a stretch of adjacent Sixth Avenue to protect passers-by and to allow cleanup crews to deal with the mess.
Police were getting reports of pieces of glass falling from the building for about 15 minutes, Robinson said
