USA: Indiana Suing Automotive Glass Business

Company denies claim that two women were fired for whistle-blowing.

The Indiana Department of Labor is suing a local automotive shop, alleging it illegally fired two employees because they complained of unsafe working conditions.

The suit, recently filed in St. Joseph Circuit Court, claims that Ziebart Speedy Auto Glass franchise owner Jeff Miller fired Debra Derbin, of Granger, and Deb Harvey, of Goshen, on Sept. 11 in retaliation for "whistleblower" complaints they had filed with the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The business sells and repairs cars and offers an array of automotive aftermarket services and products, such as undercoating, at a shop in South Bend, 2627 S. Main St., and in Goshen, 1511 Lincoln Way, the suit states.
