Glass Museum Raises $6,000

The Historical Glass Museum raised $6,000 during its parking lot sale and from sales at its gift shop Dec. 9.

The event will help maintain operating costs for the museum. Half of the money raised on Dec. 9 went toward the renovation of the adjacent Marten Andersen House, which was moved to its Sixth Street location next to the glass museum in February.

The house, designated a Redlands Heritage Home in 1976, was purchased for 50 cents from the Salvation Army in 2004. It is the future home of the museum's contemporary glass collection.

The museum is trying to raise money for a federally required ADA-specified wheelchair ramp.

Six volunteers were able to install insulation in three of the rooms on the weekend of Dec.16.

The Historical Glass Museum is still accepting donations. Donations of $100 or more will qualify donors for a 1 in 10 chance to win one of several prizes, including breakfast and an evening for two at the Morey Mansion, a weekend for two at a cabin in Big Bear Lake, a gourmet dinner with wine and classical guitar music at a Victorian home, and a private tour of publicly non-accessible rooms at the A.K. Smiley Public Library and at Kimberly Crest.
