Saint Gobain: The Pierre Faurre Prize Awarded To Thibaut Heitz, Project Director in India

 Thibaut HEITZ was awarded the Pierre Faurre Prize on Thursday, 23rd November 2006.
At the age of 35, Thibaut HEITZ is currently responsible for the construction of a "magnetron" line at Saint-Gobain’s Chennai Glass factory, India. He is being honoured for the debut of an international career in the innovation category and for his aptitude in managing a project across all the technical and personnel aspects. One of his most remarkable achievements has been the industrialisation of the magnetron lines in England and India.
Magnetron technology consists of placing very fine multiple layers on very large surfaces of glass which allow the optical and thermal transmission qualities of glass to be controlled. This technology uses the same precision as the electronics sector but with higher throughputs and larger surface areas.
The Ecole Polytechnique Foundation – presided over by Jean-Martin FOLZ, President of PSA Peugeot Citroën – created the Pierre Faurre Prize. The prize is in memory of Pierre Faurre, who died in 2001, and who was a member of the Academy of Sciences and President of the Board of Governors of the Ecole Polytechnique.
The Pierre Faurre Prize distinguishes a young member of the Polytechnique whose first years of his career reflect the training received at the Ecole Polytechnique.
This prize has just been awarded for the fifth time.
