PGT Industries Begins Rowan Operation

A Florida manufacturer of windows and doors plans has begun its N.C. manufacturing operations to Rowan County, with the $31 million project to bring 400 jobs to the area by the end of the year.

PGT Industries Inc. has relocated to the 390,000-square-foot GDX Automotive building near Granite Quarry, moving from a smaller building in Lexington, N.C.

PGT has operated a 230,000-square-foot plant in Lexington since 2003, which couldn't be expanded to meet the company's needs. PGT will sell the Lexington facility.

To attract PGT, Rowan County commissioners agreed to offer the company $377,000 in incentives over five years.
