DuPont featured in educational exhibit at 2002 Olympic Winter Games

The DuPont commitment to achieving sustainable growth is highlighted in an exhibit entitled "Global Warming and You" that the World Resources Institute now has on display at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The exhibit, which is located at the Salt Lake City Visitors Center, is aimed at raising awareness about global warming and discussing its impact.

DuPont is featured in a portion of the exhibit that discusses how U.S. companies, organizations and communities are taking action to combat global warming. It notes that DuPont has invested over $50 million in projects and programs to substantially reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its global manufacturing operations.

"DuPont has committed to achieving 65 percent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from operations by 2010 using 1990 as a base year, and to source 10 percent of its global energy needs from renewable energy by 2010," the exhibit notes. "To date, the company has reduced GHG emissions by 63 percent."

The exhibit also details that DuPont donated emission reduction credits for carbon dioxide to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) in Utah. The donation helped SLOC reach its goal of zero emissions for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
