Tamglass wins patent suit against North Glass
|
The London Royal Courts of Justice has ruled in favour of Tamglass in the patent suit against the Chinese glass processing manufacturer Luoyang North Glass and its customer Novaglaze of UK.
Tamglass filed suit in 2004 due to an infringement of its European patent for a glass bending and tempering process, used for example in the Tamglass HTBS. In 2002, North Glass infringed the patented process by plagiarizing the system and selling an infringed machine to Novaglaze. North Glass also promoted infringed machinery through its agents elsewhere in Europe. The court found that Novaglaze was aware of the infringement and regardless of that used the processes.
As Tamglass’ patent for this process is a European one, Tamglass had grounds for suit in the UK. The court found that North Glass and Novaglaze did in fact infringe. Financial compensations will be decided upon at a later hearing.
