DuPont Teijin Films and CPFilms Alliance works to improve building safety

DuPont Teijin Films(TM) and CPFilms today announced the formation of a new strategic relationship to work jointly to reduce injury and property damage due to flying glass. This relationship includes joint development and marketing of protective window film products for commercial and residential building markets.
"When hurricanes or other natural disasters move through a community, the devastation to commercial and residential property can be severe. Damage and injury from projected glass can be extensive," said Henry Voigt, president and COO, DuPont Teijin Films. "And, as we experienced during the tragic events of September 11th, acts of terrorism can severely damage unprotected buildings with equally devastating effects to people and property."

The two companies have collaborated since the 1980's to respond to the need for film-based safety and security products. For over 15 years, their products have been installed in U.S. embassies, military bases, other government buildings and commercial facilities throughout the world, providing increased security protection to employees and others. During that period, the product has also been greatly enhanced by adding other benefits to the film such as solar UV protection, glare reduction, and heat management.

DuPont Teijin Films, a joint venture between DuPont and Teijin headquartered in Wilmington, Del., produces biaxially-oriented Mylar(R) brand polyester film, which possesses optimal properties for safety and security window film: physical strength properties needed to control shattering glass, and outstanding optical properties for visual clarity.
