Libbey Glass Opens Distribution Center

A $35 million distribution center for Shreveport’s Libbey Glass may not mean more jobs at the local plant but should mean that jobs here are more secure, top officials for Libbey said this morning at the ribbon cutting for the 646,000-square-foot warehouse.

"It’s another commitment to the community," John Meier, Libbey chairman and CEO, told The Times. "We have every reason to be confident in the future."

The distribution center on Greenwood Road just north of Monkhouse Drive is the result of a two-year effort among the city, parish, Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, state and private organizations.
