First glimpse of heart of glass to make Glasgow No 1
|
The first image of the proposed redevelopment of the former General Post Office building in Glasgow shows the striking glass roof extension that will hopefully help to revitalise this iconic listed block in the heart of the city.
AWG Property and HF Developments have produced a radical and eye-catching design at No 1, George Square, which has already generated strong interest from potential occupiers, including at least one financial services giant.
The two partners want to turn the A-listed Victorian building - bought from Stefan King's G1 Group for £11m last November - into 127,000 sq ft of prime office space.
There will also be a public area that will be available on the ground floor to engage passersby and allow locals and tourists to enjoy the building.
Plans have been submitted to Glasgow City Council.
Tony Donnelly, managing director of AWG Property, said: "The location, design and configuration of this development will make it ideal for a single occupier keen to make this its corporate or Scottish HQ."
