Glass company announces move to St. George
|
The Spectrum reported that members of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce were among the first to discover Washington County residents will soon have a number of new job opportunities today.
Viracon a glass manufacturing company announced the arrival of their new plant in the Fort Pierce Industrial Park within the next year. Viracon produces high-performance glass products including tempered, laminated, insulated, silk-screened and high performance coatings. This will be the companys third plant in the United States, and as an international company the demand for growth is strong.
Bill Wright, vice president of manufacturing for the new facility, said the new 225,000-square-foot facility is expected to be completed by April 1, 2007. In order to open, Wright said at least 150 local employees will be needed.
In addition, over the next three years the number of employees will grow to over 250.
We will begin the hiring process late fall of this year, Wright said. Not a lot of our current staff will be imported here. We hope to hire everyone we can locally.
