Saint-Gobain closes plant in Sanborn
|
Buffalo Bizjournals reported that sixteen employees were put out of jobs when manufacturing ceased in the recent shutdown of Saint-Gobain Ceramics' microelectronics plant in Niagara County.
The 40,000-square-foot facility at 2050 Cory Road, Sanborn, produced aluminum nitride substrates, which are used primarily in the semiconductor market.
The plant's 16 salaried technicians and management employees were told in December of a planned closing within two months.
The business suffered major losses in recent years, primarily because of reduced demand for products and overcapacity in world markets.
