GlassExpo-Lasi 2006

The GlassExpo-Lasi 2006 Fair, to be held for the first time in February, and the simultaneous Nordic Stone Fair will offer professionals a significant information package. Overall, the event at the Turku Fair and Congress Center on February 16th 18th is unique in Finland. In addition to prominent Finnish players in the field, there will also be exhibitors from overseas, e.g. from Italy.
The Glass Fair has been commissioned by the Finnish Flat Glass Association in cooperation with The Finnish Glazier Association, The Finnish Association of Architects, the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT / Window Industry, and the Finnish Association of Furniture and Joinery Entrepreneurs.
The Stone Fair, which is now being held for the second time, is backed by the Finnish Natural Stone Association in cooperation with the Finnish Association of Landscape Industries and its member organisation, the Association of Finnish Landscape Constructors.
Sustainable Façade
In addition to exhibition stands the event also hosts high-standard seminars.
The Sustainable Façade seminar, held on the opening day of the Fair, February 16th, will deal with, among other issues, the various trends in architecture. Professor, architect Matti Rautiola from the Tampere University of Technology will be speaking at the seminar. The seminar themes will also include authenticity and sustainability in façade materials. Furthermore, accounts of façade renovation, rebuilding and conservation will be given. At the end of the seminar the Glass Construction of the Year will be announced.
The Modern Glass Construction seminar will explain what can be done with glass. Also, the energy classification of windows, quality systems for glass construction and CE marking as well as strength calculations are topics covered at this seminar on Thursday, February 16th.
Diversity of Natural Stone
On Friday, February 17th, there will be a seminar on the diversity of natural stone. The topics include the uses of stone in an urban environment, cost-effective stone construction and the landscape architecture of stone. Headstones will also be discussed.
The Glass-Aluminium seminar will be held on the same day.
For the general public
In addition to the programme for professionals there will also be plenty for members of the public to see. Professional glass artists will be represented in an impressive way as the members of Suomen Lasitaiteilijat ry (The Association of Finnish Glass Artists) will exhibit and sell their products in the Associations stand. Visitors will also have a unique opportunity to see how e.g. glass beads are made. Furthermore, the stand will present current education possibilities in glass artistry.
On Saturday there will be demonstrations on working with natural stone and information flashes.
Articles made of stone will also be exhibited and sold in the Stone Fair stands. Saturday in particular is expected to draw large crowds to the Fair.
