Art and Technology Provides Unlimited Design Opportunities

Meltdown Glass Art & Design of Chandler, Arizona, has aligned itself with a Strategic Partner, SAFTI FIRST to provide Fire Resistive Kiln Cast Art glass.

The companies’ combined expertise in design and technology created this product without compromise to the patented process or loss of function during a fire. The alliance opens doors for designers to enhance a building with Glass Art while staying within the boundaries of maintaining vital fire resistive and life safety issues and building codes.

“This is an exciting time in the industry when aesthetics and technology are combined without lost of performance or function,” said SAFTI FIRST’s company spokesperson Kathryn O’Keeffe.

Fire rated, artistic, transparent wall systems will now bring desired light into a structure and make an artistic statement that is timeless. Artistic use of colors and deeply cast patterns are a Meltdown specialty. This process will allow design professional to use customized art glass products in numerous markets such as healthcare, educational facilities and other public domains.

“With this partnership, we can provide endless design possibilities for Architects and Interior Designers, enabling them to create unique artistic spaces in a much wider variety of settings,” said Meltdown’s Principal and Art Director BJ Katz.

SAFTI FIRST’s patented gel-filled endothermic glazing is the desired and preferred process to maintain the highest level of fire protection and design flexibility with the added benefit of sound reduction. Ratings are offered from 45- 120 minutes, provide excellent radiant heat protection and meet hose stream, pressure, and thermal shock requirements. Both products are fully tempered and not subject to wall area limitations. Applications are Window Wall Systems, Side or Transom Lites, Full Vision Doors and Door Lites. All available with a variety of framing options and finishes.

The love of art glass is Meltdown’s reason for being yet another “First” for SAFTI FIRST.
