Tamglass: Three new furnaces to Pilkington from Tamglass

Pilkington has purchased 3 of the latest toughening furnaces from TAMGLASS of Finland, as part of their continuing programme of development, both for their Primary and Processed Products. The furnaces are destined for installation in Pilkington's processing business lines in the UK and Australia.

These furnaces will be used to process both the current and developing range of advanced glazing products for the construction industry. These include Low-E coated products which are increasingly in demand due to the growing requirement for energy efficient construction materials.

The furnaces supplied by TAMGLASS are the latest generation of advanced toughening technology and will enable Pilkington to process and supply a wide range of products to the highest quality whilst maintaining flexibility and speed of production.

Further details of the exact locations and business focus of each of these new furnaces will be announced later in 2001.

Pilkington plc is one of the world's leading glass manufacturers, producing glass and glass products for the construction, automotive, furniture and domestic appliance markets. The company's head office is in the UK and it has production units in a total of 25 countries on four continents. Pilkington plc's net sales total around GBP 2.8 billion.

Tamglass, which is part of the Kyro Group, designs and manufactures safety glass lines and machines for the architectural, automotive, furniture and domestic appliance glass industries. Tamglass has a total of 16 sales, production and maintenance service units in a number of European and Asia countries and in the Americas. The company has delivered 1,400 production lines to over 70 countries.
