Stained-glass window, door firm grows

Chris Kenyon was leading a nomadic life as an operations manager for a building-trades company when he landed in Columbus.
So far, his move has paid off. He eventually left the company, which supplied cabinets, windows and related items to the wholesalebuilding market, to establish Kenyon Stained Glass Factory. The 6-year-old company, which makes doors and windows for the retail industry, recently increased employment and expanded to Grove City.
"I was working for a company that moved me around the country," Kenyon said. "They had a business in Columbus that did some stainedglass work. But they got into a lot of changes, and I decided to do this."
You might see some of Kenyons products on your neighbors house. Theyre sold at Home Depot, Lowes and other stores.
The company cuts the glass, cleans it and assembles products before sending it to retailers. Business has been good enough for the company to expand from a West Side location into a 40,000-squarefoot warehouse at Gateway Business Park. The company has 60 employees, who work two shifts.
"One thing that allows us to compete against lower-labor countries is being able to automate 30 percent of our operation," Kenyon said. "We have machines built specially to do what we want them to do."
Kenyon said his companys products are sold throughout the United States.
