Construction begins on Viet Nam Glass Factory in southern province

Ground was broken for the construction for a Viet Nam-Japan joint venture glass factory in My Xuan A industrial zone, southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on Jan. 9.

Tran Minh Sanh, Chairman of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau People's Committee, and Osamu Shiozaki, Japanese Consult General in Ho Chi Minh City, attended the ground-breaking ceremony.

The Viet Nam Glass Factory, a joint venture between Japan's Nippon Sheet Glass Co. Ltd (NGS) and the Construction Materials Corporation No.1 of Viet Nam, will be built on a 30 ha area at a cost of 145 million USD, with 70 percent of the investment contributed by the Japanese side. The factory, with a design capacity equivalent to 28 million sq.m of 2 mm sheet glass a year, is expected to be put into operation after 10 months of construction.

The factory, the second NGS-invested floating glass project in Viet Nam, the first being located in the northern region, will produce high-quality floating glass products.-Enditem
