New aluminum and glass unit planned

Al Attar Aluminum and Glass, a project of the Al Attar Group, said it had signed an agreement with Dubai Industrial City, a member of Dubai Holding, to establish a new aluminum and glass factory in the zone.

Al Attar group chairman Ahmad Abdul Rahim Al Attar said the factory, to be located in Dubai Industrial City over an area of 1 million square feet, would be completed this year.

It will add value to the UAE's industrial sector and raise technology standards for the production of high quality glass and aluminum.

The new factory will employ 500 workers and will also generate employment for UAE nationals, Ahmad Abdul Rahim Al Attar added.

He signed the deal with Dubai Industrial City CEO Khalid Al Malik.

Attar Aluminum and Glass Corporation chairman Manea Al Attar attended the signing ceremony.

“We have used state-of-the-art technology and advanced equipment to create high-quality environment-friendly products that meet European standards,” he said.

“Our emphasis on quality is in line with Dubai's vision for global excellence and its larger strategy of economic diversification,” he added.

The Al Attar Group's chairman said the company's choice of Dubai Industrial City as a location for the project reflects its belief in the vision of Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Prime Minister of Defence, to transform the industrial sector and make it a key growth driver of Dubai's economy. Dubai Industrial City, he said, is an ideal location for industrial ventures that are committed to quality and efficiency.

Manea Al Attar said: “The factory's use of advanced technology and unique design set it apart from similar ventures.

“Quality, safety and a healthy environment for workers have been of utmost priority for us, while designing the factory.

“The factory has been designed by a German company, while the new equipment has been procured from Europe and the US.

“The factory will be completely air conditioned, and will have a water re-cycling system. It will be the first one to use solar energy systems, making it extremely environmentally friendly.”

Furthermore, it will be the first in the Middle East to deploy an advanced technology for coating aluminum that avoids the use of chrome, adding to the factory's environment-friendliness.

The factory will offer restaurants, sports and other services and facilities for the employees, to provide them with a comfortable and productive environment.

Al Malik welcomed the Al Attar Aluminum and Glass Corporation's move, to establish their new venture at Dubai Industrial City.

“This agreement is part of Dubai Industrial City's strategy of partnering with a selection of local, regional and international industrial corporations to create a vibrant industrial centre, which will contribute to Dubai's industrial growth and economic diversification.”

He said that Dubai Industrial City had received a tremendous demand from industrial corporations and organizations, which reflects the high quality of services and facilities, business-friendly environment, and flexible laws and regulations it offers.
