Increased worldwide demand for safety glass will mean increased production at a Bladen industry. DuPont announced that the Bladen plant will produce some of the interior layers of SentryGlas Plus, a safety glass used in office and residential windows. The product will be made in the newly completed production facilities at the Bladen DuPont plant.
Originally produced for use in hurricane-prone areas, SentryGlas Plus is now used in embassies, high-rise buildings, handrails, floors, and overhead lights and windows. The company says the material is stronger and clearer than other types of safety glass, and demand has increased by 50 percent in the past year.
