Kim Jong-il, Wu Yi attend completion ceremony of glass factory

Kim Jong-il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and visiting Chinese Vice-premier Wu Yi here on Sunday attended the completion ceremony of a glass factory built with Chinese aid.

Kim Jong-il highly appreciated the aid from the Chinese side in the construction of the Taean Friendship Glass Factory. "The Chinese side adopted a plenty of new technologies and new equipment in the construction of the factory, giving us a lot of useful experience," Kim told Wu Yi after finishing an inspection tour. Wu Yi thanked Kim for his support to the project.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wu said the factory is a fruit of the traditional China-DPRK relationship and China stands ready to workwith the DPRK to enrich the content of the friendly cooperation between the two countries. Kim Yong-nam, president of the DPRK parliament, Pak Bong-ju, the Cabinet Premier and other senior party, state and army officials also attended the ceremony.

Addressing the celebrating banquet, Kim Yong-nam said the Worker's Party of Korea, the DPRK government and the DPRK people will never forget the selfless help given by the Chinese side. "The factory is a new monument in the history of the DPRK-Chinafriendship, proving that the traditional friendship has a trong vitality in the new era," Kim said.

Premier Pak also extended his thanks to Chinese units and personnel participating in the project. "The DPRK side will work closely with the Chinese side to maintain sound management of the factory," he said. Wu arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday for a three-day official goodwill visit at the head of a delegation which also includes Commerce Minister Bo Xilai. Enditem
