Asahi Glass (China) Co., Ltd. has become the second largest auto glass producer in China after acquiring another joint venture and capacity expansion.
Situated in the Qinhuangdao Economic and Technologic Development Zone, the company, wholly owned by Asahi Glass Company (AGC) of Japan, an listed among the worlds top 500, started in August 2003 and became operational on November 5, 2004. AGC is striving to make the venture one of the most important production centers in the Asia-Pacific Region.
It is only the first step for AGC to secure its leading position on the Chinese market, said president of the joint venture, adding that AGC plans to further expand its production capacity.
