Toughened glass firm shuts with 167-job loss
|
More than 160 people lost their jobs when a South Wales toughened specialist glass manufacturer ceased trading after being placed into administration.
Llantrisant-based Therm Tempered blamed tough trading conditions for the immediate loss of 167 jobs. The company, which also makes sealed glass units, was founded in 1992 and two years ago reported a record turnover of £15m.
Andrew Sheridan, one of the joint administrators from Baker Tilly's Bristol office said the closure of the company was a reflection of the tough trading conditions faced by UK-based toughened glass manufacturers.
