United Glass Corp: Changes at the Top

Lawrence E. O'Connell, Chairman and CEO of United Glass Corporation (UGC), announced the resignation of James W. (Jim) Bradford as President and CEO of the company and a move of Corporate Headquarters located in Kingsport, Tennessee to Louisville, Kentucky, by year end. UGC was formed in 1999 as an acquisition vehicle to consolidate various aspects of the value added fabricated glass business. In light of the September 11th events, the company will focus instead on operational efficiency, internal growth and continued earnings improvement during the uncertain times facing the U.S. economy. To facilitate that agenda, Jim Bradford will remain as a consultant to the company and work with the company in areas of financing, industry trends, new products, and various other matters. In addition to the change in Jim's position, the company has also named David Bartley as Chief Financial Officer and Marc Silverman as President of Pdc in Cheswick, Pennsylvania. The Eastern region operating units will continue to report to Jack Deyo, as President, and the Western region operating units will continue to report to Nick Sciola, as President.

Mr. O'Connell stated that "one of the more difficult tasks involved with insuring the success of a major manufacturing concern with multiple locations is the molding of various business cultures into a cohesive unit, and we thank Jim for leading UGC through that phase of its continuing development. Jim is truly a proven leader in our industry, and we are fortunate to have had him with UGC to guide us through the formative years and leave us well positioned to continue to grow in a potentially turbulent economy. The Corporate team we have in place, along with Jim in an advisory capacity, will insure that the growth and success UGC has enjoyed up to this point will continue."

UGC is a leading manufacturer of value added glass parts serving the architectural, residential, automotive and specialty flat glass markets, with 18 major manufacturing centers and approximately 1400 employees throughout North America.
