Glass tower will transform town's skyline
|
FUTURISTIC office block is set to transform the skyline of a North Wales town, creating hundreds of jobs.
Already dubbed "the glass tower" the nine-storey development in a prime location in Holyhead has now won outline planning permission from Anglesey county council.
Detailed plans should be ready by early next year and, according to those behind the project, it could give the town's regeneration strategy a major boost.
Eric Roberts of the Llangefni-based RGR Partnership, agents for developers Premium Securities of Manchester, is confident the landmark building will attract major companies.
"It will be in a prime spot and is what people will see when they arrive, and will give the impression of a modern town determined to move forward. "The idea of the glass is that it will reflect light and blend in with the skyline."
Mr Roberts added: "We are really excited about this and with other developments going on in the area, Holyhead seems to be on the up."
As part of the development in Kingsland Road, six properties, including a former nightclub, will have to be demolished. The scheme also includes extensive car parking.
