Rehab reports 24% increase in glass recycling in 2004

The recycling firm Rehab has reported a 24% increase in the amount of glass deposited at its "bring centres" in the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period in 2003.

Rehab, which is responsible for 90% of glass recycling in Ireland, said 24,000 tonnes of bottles and jars had been brought to its centres between January and August.

The company said the highest rates of glass recycling were in Cork and Leitrim, followed closely by Galway, while the biggest increases in recycling over the past 12 months were in Louth and Monaghan.
