Inex Vision Systems: Next generation packaging inspection product

Inex Vision Systems introduces its next generation inspection solution for the packaging industry. The new product, named InSpect, is actually a family of products based upon a common vision platform. Inex has teamed with Cognex© Corporation, based in Natick, Massachusetts, USA, for the vision platform of the new InSpect family. It is based upon the highly successful Cognex© line of In-SightT vision sensors. The InSpect family consists of complete turnkey systems to address specific inspection applications/markets. This includes applications evaluation, lighting/optics, image acquisition components, product rejection station and all associated mounting hardware.

The turnkey system from Inex coupled with the power of the Cognex© vision platform results in a robust, quality-engineered, total solution for the factory floor. The benefit of this approach is minimal on-site time for setup, debugging, qualification, and training. With over 40 years experience in providing turnkey inspection solutions and a world-wide network for support and service, Inex solutions eliminate the burden of working with inexperienced integrators and/or expending valuable in-house resources on vision projects.

The InSpect product family consists of stand-alone systems that can be networked and configured to address single and/or multiple camera applications. The system features an extensive suite of vision algorithms such as blob analysis, 1D and 2D code verification and the revolutionary Cognex© PatFindT tool. The systems are programmed via the Inex User Interface, an Inex-developed intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) designed to simplify system setup/operation and eliminate the programming complexity of typical machine vision systems.

The family includes the InSpect 100, which is aimed at straightforward applications and deployed as a “black-box” solution (without real-time image/statistical information display). The InSpect 500 will offer all the functionality of the InSpect 100 plus real-time image and statistical displays. Future releases of the family will expand the solution offerings with capabilities such as color inspection. In addition to the inspection solutions, the InSpect family includes various system-programming options, such as the Inex User Interface software that can be run on any standard WindowsT PC or an Inex pedestal-base mobile programming station. The design premise of the InSpect family was to produce a modular, configurable, low-cost system that addresses today's applications requirements as well as tomorrow’s. The network feature allows the InSpect product to communicate with each other as well as be integrated into existing plant floor automation networks.

Inex has been manufacturing and marketing automatic inspection equipment for nearly forty years and has over 6,000 successful installations. Inex is committed to customer satisfaction in the design, manufacture and support of its products. The company is headquartered in Clearwater, Florida and has offices in England and Spain. In addition, the company has established a worldwide network of representatives to address and support its customer’s needs. This experience coupled with the extensive sales and support network positions the company as a world-class provider of solutions to the packaging sector.
